TUNICA, Miss., April 30, 2013 – The Tunica County Airport today announced it has expanded its car rental service through a partnership with Avis Car Rental and Budget Car Rental. The addition of Avis and Budget will give travelers rental opportunities in Tunica at competitive rates and with a wide range of options for travelers including Emergency Roadside Assistance, GPS navigation devices, satellite radio and other ways to make each visit a special experience.

The Tunica County Airport Commission (TCAC) will be holding a full scale mock disaster response exercise on Saturday, June 16, 2012 commencing at approximately 9:00 a.m. and continuing until approximately 12:00 p.m. The Tunica Airport is mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct a full scale exercise every 3 years in order to meets its requirements under the FAA Regulations. A simulated airplane crash will assist to confirm and ensure that its Emergency Response Plan meets the overall requirements and remains current and effective.

Today Vision Airlines launched low-fare, nonstop air service between Tunica Airport (UTM) and the Northwest Florida International Airport in Destin/Ft. Walton Beach, FL (VPS). The airline will operate five flights a week to Destin, using a 30 passenger Dornier 328 turbo-prop aircraft. Parking will be free for passengers flying to and from the Tunica Airport.

Vision Airlines today announced nonstop flights from Tunica, Miss., to Destin/Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., beginning June 1.

Tunica Airport recently opened a new 10,500 square foot terminal. The airport’s new addition that opened on September 1 was finished just in time to accommodate the arrival of AirTran Airways’ commercial flight service out of Tunica. The airport’s new terminal boasts of a holding area that can accommodate almost 200 passengers and enough space to allow the airport to handle up to three planes at once.

The Tunica Airport and AirTran Airways announced today the launch of regularly scheduled, non-stop jet service between the Tunica Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, beginning May 6.

Destination Tunica and Pan Am Clipper Connection today announced the launch of regularly scheduled non-stop jet service between the Tunica Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, beginning May 2.

Tunica will experience an historic moment when a Boeing 737 jet aircraft lands at the Tunica Airport on Friday. The occasion marks the first time a major aircraft will land at the new airport since it opened in late summer 2003.

The Tunica Airport completed the construction of its arrival and departure canopy earlier this month, according to Cliff Nash, Tunica Airport executive director. The new structure is the Mid-South’s largest cantilevered canopy.

The newly formed Tunica Air Race Association, a public-private partnership between three Tunica, Mississippi, organizations and JL Images Entertainment from Brentwood, Tennessee, announced that the first annual Tunica Air Races and Air Show will be held on June 2-5, 2005 in Tunica.

Senator Trent Lott and other dignitaries gathered today at Tunica Airport to officially open its new 5,500-foot runway and terminal building, giving visitors to “The South’s Casino Capital” access to the resort via corporate and regional jet aircraft. 

The first phase of Tunica's airport expansion project is scheduled to open early this spring, giving visitors access to "The South's Casino Capital" via corporate and regional aircraft.

Tunica is expanding its Airport to accommodate corporate and regional aircraft next year, and larger aircraft, including airlines, by 2005.
